When I was a kid I loved going to museums. Science museums, art museums, you name it.
Never did I think there would be a weed museum.
Imagine my imagine my surprise and my joy when I saw this Time piece covering the opening of the Cannabition Cannabis Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Cannabition is a different type of museum, and not just because it’s a weed museum.
Cannabition is the first museum to cater to the social media age, that is the compulsive need we have to photograph every aspect of our lives.
Guests of the weed museum can pose with things like giant foam weed nugs, a giant weed leaf meant to be a giant edible (it’s fake), and last but certainly not least, a giant bong named “Bongzilla”, which is 24 feet tall, and the biggest bong in the world!
A Look Inside Cannabition
There are 12 exhibits in all, including a room containing Hunter S. Thompson’s famous “Red Shark” known by fans of the book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Museum patrons can also lie in a bed shaped like a weed seed and experience what it’s like to be a marijuana seedling.

Museum owner J.J. Walker said in an interview with Associated Press, “Our goal when people come out of this is that they don’t fear the cannabis industry if they are not believers in the industry.
Cannabition is not about just serving people that like marijuana, it’s about serving the masses that want to learn about cannabis and or just have fun and go do a cool art experience.”
The museum encourages people with 1000s of followers on platforms like Instagram to come visit and spread the word.
If you are an “influencer” you should probably go check it out, as I can imagine you will be treated like royalty.

Cannabition hopes to inform people about the benefits of cannabis and “destigmatize use” according to Walker.
Another goal the museum hopes to accomplish is draw younger people to Vegas and to give people who don’t want to gamble a reason to come to Vegas in the first place.
Recreational weed has been legal since July of last year, and sales have been booming, even to the point where the state ran the risk of running out of weed.
I for one cannot wait to have my picture taken next to the world’s largest bong.
